Wood Craft Workshop


Using wood and natural materials coppiced and gathered locally we offer a selection of Wood Art and Crafts for you to make and take away, heirlooms to treasure or gift to a loved one.

Our workshops vary in length from two-hour tasters to full day workshops.

What can I make?

From wooden hearts, signs, boats, walking sticks, coasters, bird boxes, bug boxes and seasonal decorations such as a wooden Snowman, Santa or Reindeer plus much more!


Release your inner creativity with a memorable outdoor experience suitable for all. We can adapt all of our courses to suit private groups, corporate team building events, horticultural societies, scouting and guiding groups, private parties, summer schools and children who are home schooled. We also offer special themed events for Stag and Hen Parties!

We have a comprehensive selection of activity options, catering options and specialist workshops for you to select and create your own bespoke event!

Our workshops are held at several woodside and woodland locations including “Bridge Barn”, situated in a secluded picturesque location at Priory Farm Estates, Sandy Lane, South Nutfield, Redhill, Surrey, RH1 4EJ.

Outdoor catering can also be provided for an additional cost, we have a range of options available, please contact the organiser to discuss further.

In this workshop, you will join Lorraine to make a tea light candle holder by sanding and drilling a selected piece of wood that you can then varnish and decorate in a style of your choice. You can learn to apply the art of decoupage, using dried flowers too if desirable!

We have various styles of hearts that you can choose from to make. For example, woven Willow Hearts, Birch Hearts or Hearts made from wood slices!

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear comfortable, outdoor clothing and layers to protect you from both the changing weather and dust etc. from tools you may use such as a drill or sander. Sensible footwear is required and you may also want to bring a pair of gloves to protect your hands if you have them, if not we will have some spare for you to use. We will also provide safety glasses and any other safety equipment that is needed.

Hedges & Hurdles reserves the right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its reasonable control without being obliged to refund monies.

We require a minimum of 8 people to run a course. If the course is cancelled by the organiser for any reason we will contact you as soon as possible and will always endeavour to reschedule your booking for another date, however, if this is not possible a full refund will be provided.
