For some workshops you may also be able to purchase a Willow Kit ads-on in advance to make a second craft on your return home.

Join Lorraine for a festive Willow workshop to include music, mulled wine and mince pies! Bring some rustic charm to your garden and home in time for Christmas.
In this workshop, you will learn to weave two natural and traditional Swedish Stars using Willow in contrasting colours to be combined together to make an attractive Christmas decoration.
Suitability
The workshop is suitable for adults and teenagers only. You will be able to work independently or in pairs.
What’s Included
What shall I bring with me?
Please bring your own pair of sharp secateurs and a water bottle.
Your own foldable chair (we have some chairs but yours may be more comfortable)
This is an outdoor workshop, please dress according to the weather. We do have a large deck and shelter in the event of a shower.

Come along for either the morning and/or afternoon Saturday workshop and make a unique wreath to take home or gift to a loved one!
Lorraine and Renée have come together to offer you a choice of different styles of wreath making using either a Coppiced Willow, Hazel & Birch Base Wreath or a Mossed Wire Base Wreath, the choice is yours!
You will have a wide selection of natural materials to choose from to decorate your wreath base once made and will be shown different techniques to achieve your very own unique design.
We have also included an afternoon Traditional Swedish Star Workshop for those who would like something different or wish to spend the full day with us to make both a wreath and star.

Suitability
The workshop is suitable for adults and children (if accompanied by an adult). You will be able to work independently or in pairs.
Please note, we can provide a ready-made Hazel and/or Willow Wreath base to decorate for those who may find it too difficult to make themselves.
What should I bring?
We recommend you bring a pair of secateurs and gloves. You may also bring your own Christmas ornaments to add to your wreath if desirable.

Our woodland art space is nestled within the woodland beyond the lake on the Birtley Estate in Bramley, a beautiful Surrey Hills location, so picturesque with its lakes and gardens and woodland walks, and not surprisingly it is classified as an “AONB” an area of outstanding natural beauty!
Suitability
This two-hour afternoon workshop is suitable for Adults, Teenagers, and supervised children aged between 6yrs and 12yrs.
Cost
Adult admission: £45 (ex VAT) – (inc. 1 child aged 6yrs to 12yrs FOC)
Teenager admission: £35 (ex VAT)
What will we be able to make?
A selection of natural materials will be provided including Willow, Birch, Hazel, Grasses, Cones, dried seed heads, etc. and Lorraine will be on hand to demonstrate how to make various crafts including small Wreaths, Willow Stars, Birch Hearts, Hanging Tree decorations. You can choose to make one medium to large item or several smaller crafts
What should I wear?
We recommend you wear comfortable, outdoor clothing and footwear.

This is a great workshop to catch up with family and friends too and rest assured we run a COVID 19 secure business (see further information below).
Morning
In this morning workshop you will learn to weave a Willow Angel sculpture in the design of your choosing.
Afternoon
In this afternoon workshop you can weave a 3D Willow Heart.
Both are perfect decorations to hang in your home or outside all year round or make as a gift for a loved one!
The Angel here has been made using Buff Willow which has had the bark removed before drying, the Willow is then soaked for around 1.5 hrs prior to use and left for 24hrs to mellow. The Heart can be made from either buff or brown willow. Brown willow still has its bark and has been re-hydrated before use for 24hrs hours for every foot in length!
If you finish making your Willow Angel or Heart early you can also make a small Star or mini Christmas Tree!

We are also running this workshop indoors at:
Weave your very own Christmas Tree from Willow ready to take home and decorate.
We make our Willow Christmas Trees by supporting the upright Willow rods in a jig and then using Willow withies to weave the tree. We start in a similar way to making a garden obelisk using a tabletop jig, the weave is then changed and we end up with a beautiful, full-looking Christmas tree. There are different weaves that can be used to create your own design, every tree is unique!

The workshop is suitable for adults and children (if accompanied by a paying adult). You will be able to work independently or in pairs.

We are also running this workshop indoors at:
Spend time with Lorraine and Make a beautiful Chandelier Wreath using natural materials coppiced as part of a local woodland management programme.
We will use long rods of Hazel to form the wreath base then intertwine with Curly Willow and Birch. You can add pine cones too and finish off with some sparkling lights. Once completed the chandelier is then supported by a specially covered strong wire ready for hanging!
