Rustic chestnut gate course

In this two-day training course you will create a Rustic Chestnut Gate from Sweet Chestnut coppiced on-site. We will recommend a design to work to or you can bring one of your own.

Day One

> design and measurements
> cleaving of Chestnut poles using a Froe, small Beadle and Cleaving Break
> peeling of chestnut poles

Day Two

shaping, cleaving and thinning of selected wood
> assemble your gate
> final finish depending on selected design
> advisories on how to fit and care for your Rustic Gate
