Coppicing For Conservation

Join Paul Matthews, an award winning Hedgelayer for a one day practical, hands on course learning all about the heritage skill of coppicing both Hazel and Sweet Chestnut.

This course is set within Norbury Park, a 1300 acre woodland where coppicing is undertaken as part of a wider woodland management programme. The materials coppiced are used for conservation purposes onsite and by Paul for hedgelaying.

Using traditional hand tools you will learn how to coppice Hazel from the ground up. You will also learn how to process both the Hazel and Sweet Chestnut ready for use.

This course is suitable for both beginners and experienced woodland owners.
