Wattle Hurdles

The coppicing season for Hazel is October through to mid-March, however, we not currently taking orders for Wattle Hurdles at this time as Paul has his work load full with Hedgelaying. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and happily provide training in the art of Wattle Hurdle Making. You can find more information about our training courses here.

We have previously made Hazel (or Willow) Wattle Hurdles from wood coppiced locally from various woodlands in the area of Reigate & Banstead, Surrey.

Using traditional weaving techniques the woven panels are often used as an alternative to fencing panels or for screening purposes and add a rustic charm to any garden.

We are often asked how long a hurdle will last and this really does depend on a few factors such as weather conditions in your area, situation of the panels on your land (full sun or partial shade) and if you treat the panels or not. Yes, panels can be treated in the same way as fencing panels to prolong their life span. Hazel Wattle Hurdles can last up to 10 years!

In addition to making the hurdle panels, we can also cut and supply the posts used to secure the panels to and fit these on your behalf. We can provide either fully round or half-round Hazel or Chestnut posts.

We use a standard length of 6ft for the hurdle panels, the maximum height is also 6ft.
