Get into the holiday spirit by joining Lorraine and the team at Hedges & Hurdles Country Skills & Crafts for a series of festive Christmas workshops. These workshops offer a wonderful opportunity to create rustic, handmade decorations using natural, locally sourced materials, perfect for adding a personal touch to your home or garden this Christmas season.
Featured Workshops
- Traditional Swedish Star: Learn to weave two beautiful Swedish stars using contrasting colors of willow. These stars make for a simple yet charming Christmas decoration.
- Natural Christmas Wreath: Create a unique wreath using a selection of fresh and dried natural materials, including hops. With various techniques, you can design your wreath to suit your style.
- Willow Angel: Working with willow is both mindful and relaxing. In this workshop, you’ll weave an angel using a wooden jig. Lorraine will guide you through different styles and techniques, helping you craft a delightful Christmas angel.
- Willow Heart: Learn to make a 3D armature using willow, which you can then weave into a heart. Add dried flowers for a special touch, making this a perfect gift for the holidays.
- Chandelier Wreath: Using hazel rods, curly willow, and birch, craft a chandelier-style wreath. Add pinecones and lights to finish off this striking decoration, ideal for hanging in your home.
- Willow Christmas Tree: Craft your own Christmas tree from willow. Using a jig and weaving different patterns, you’ll create a stunning tree to take home and decorate.
- Christmas Wreath & Swedish Star Extravaganza: Spend either the morning or afternoon making a wreath or a traditional Swedish star, or stay for the full day to create both!
Workshop Locations
- Hogs Back Brewery: Enjoy the rustic charm of this local brewery in Tongham. As a special treat, some workshops here include the use of the brewery’s hops in wreath making.
- Birtley Woodland Art Space: Set in the picturesque 48-acre Birtley Estate in Bramley, Guildford, this outdoor studio is surrounded by lakes, gardens, and woodlands.
- Albury Vineyard: Surrey’s only organic vineyard provides a scenic setting in the Surrey Hills. Combine your workshop with wine tasting in this award-winning vineyard.
- Betchworth Village Hall: We are back running our Christmas Wreath & Swedish Star Extravaganza together with the lovely Renee Canter, aka The Girl Who Gardens. This is our 5th year of collaboration and the 3rd at this lovely warm and welcoming location.
