You have prior experience of hedgelaying or have completed an ‘Introductory To Hedgelaying Training Course, received a pass certificate and now wish to enhance your skills even further.
We offer a five or seven-day practical training course in hedgelaying including an optional assessment leading to a National Hedgelaying Society Lantra Accreditation at Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
The attached skills cards provide an overview for each level of assessment and details of who should attend and what will be covered in the training.
We provide a ratio of up to 5 trainees per tutor. The minimum number of trainees for any course is 4.
Private groups are welcome to make contact and arrange a date to suit. Training can be spread out over a couple of weeks if preferred. The final assessment date can be separate too.
If our courses are full, please join the waitlist to learn if new dates become available for our published courses or make contact if you wish to discuss a private group event.
For those who have successfully secured funding from the Forestry Grant Fund for payment of both the course and the NHLS Lantra assessment please note that we have to pay the NHLS upfront for the assessment, therefore, you are expected to pay the assessment fee on registration and we will then refund you once the funding has been paid.

For NHLS members, there is a discount of £20 per booking.

Paul, you are a wonderful teacher: patient, good at communicating and all done with a great good humour. But it is your generosity that so impresses. All of that knowledge, acquired over decades of work and experience , now to freely pass on, thank you very much. Working with Lorraine and Paul at Hedges and Hurdles has been an absolute pleasure. They have both been adaptable to changing circumstances whilst still able to deliver the highest quality end product, whether it be training courses or contracted hedge laying.
