This year we are excited to introduce to you our Willow Sculpture workshops. Join Lorraine for a full-day workshop and release your inner creativity whilst being inspired by either the surrounding woodlands, lakes and gardens of Birtley Woodland Art Space or the picturesque Sussex Prairie Gardens.
We have published dates below but you also have the option to create a private sculpture workshop for a minimum of 6 people at either of these two locations, just make contact to let us know what you would like to make, the size of your party and which month is preferred.
If it’s very quiet in the woods around our outdoor studio you may spot a Rabbit, Deer or even a Badger, however, you are more likely to see and hear the wide variety of birds in the trees and the abundance of Geese and Ducks on the lake! These surroundings have inspired me to begin our sculpture journey with the following:
> Hen/Chickens – Friday 29th April
> Goose/Duck – Friday 22nd July
> Baby Reindeer (calf) – Friday 23rd September
The picturesque garden of Sussex Prairies is such a tranquil setting, Britain’s largest “Prairie,” or “Naturalistic,” garden, with eight acres of stunning garden to roam around. Access to the gardens is included in your ticket. Sussex Prairie Gardens opens from June through to October. We already have a fairly full schedule of different workshops this year here but have managed to fit in a couple of sculpture workshops too and look forward to building on these in time:
> Hen/Chicken – Thursday 28th July
> Baby Reindeer (calf) – Thursday 8th September
> All materials including Willow and Steel armature (when required)
> At Birtley Woodland Art Space: A seasonal light lunch – includes a vegan option
> At Birtley Woodland Art Space: You are free to walk around the woodlands and non-private grounds on the estate.
> Sussex Prairie Gardens: Ticket entry to visit the garden
> Sussex Prairie Gardens: “Afternoon Cream Tea” (Tea/Coffee, Scone, Cream and Jam). The tea shop will also have another cake option for vegans or those who are gluten-free.
> Sussex Prairie Gardens: you can also bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy in the gardens.
This workshop suits smaller groups and has a tutor/trainee ratio of 1 to 8 maximum.
